Megaherz live in Mechernich and Kaiserslautern
May 11, 2002 (Mechernich) - May 12, 2002 (Kaiserslautern)
On May 11 and 12 Megaherz played two shows. The first show starred Mhz as the top act at a biker rally in Mechernich, about 50 km southeast of Koeln. Finding the place was difficult; I had to walk two kilometers through the countryside and the small town of Kommern and then wander down the highway until I saw a bunch of bikers going into the woods. The stage was at the bottom of a hill, which rains had soaked a short time before. All the fans had to dance around in the mud but nobody cared. I arrived to see Eifel Elvis's act (which later led to Alexx singing some Elvis too). I caught sight of Mhz a short time later and went to meet everyone. Their friendliness surprised me but just shows how cool the band really is. A short time later they took the stage and played an awesome show. "Heute schon gelebt" opened the set and I was blown away by how great the band is live. The sound is incredible! Two hot dancers shared the stage up through "Miststück", and during "I. M. Rumpelstilzchen" Alexx ran into the crowd with his wireless microphone. Singing "Ach wie gut das niemand weiss, wer ich bin und wie ich heiss" while running around in the dark was an awesome effect. The highlight of the concert was during the last song "Blender", when x-ti pulled some me and some fans on stage to jam with the band as the concert ended. That was unforgettable! The new drummer Jürgen, played his first show that night and did a great job.
The next show was the following day in Kaiserslautern. This show was different in that the fans were there solely to see Megaherz, and the stage was indoor at a not-very-large hall. The same set list was played, with the addition of "Kopfschuss." The crowd was energetic and wild as Mhz played for an hour and a half. Alexx handed the microphone to fans and let them sing. The closed space made the sound louder and better. Amidst the fans yelling for their favorite songs, Jürgen was introduced to the crowd, which shouted his name in support. After two encores, the show ended with "Blender". The two shows were awesome and
I'll definitely be going back to see more.
