Megaherz live in the "Rockfabrik"
April 10, 2002 - Ludwigsburg
As I sit down to write this review, I am reminded of a line from a favorite Alice in Chains song, "Hey, let's do it again.........yeah." The night before in Munich.......and we are doing it again the following evening in Ludwigsburg. I have had NO SLEEP (long story.........lost my hotel key .........blablabla). Es ist mir egal!!!!!! I am still pumped up from the show in Munich and ready to do it again!
The venue reminds me of a long, narrow tunnel. There is a smallish main floor area surrounded by a slightly elevated section on both sides where tables and benches can be found. The back area of the venue is where the bar is with more seating and tables provided. The venue is filled to capacity with all sorts of people: men in suits (a few with their kids), males in Onkelz t-shirts, goth girls, etc., etc........a wide spectrum of fans. Due to the extremely limited space in the pit area, I choose to stand on a bench directly to the right of the stage. I have a fairly good view, though there is a good bit of obstruction thanks to the speaker tower directly to the right of the stage. I have come to accept the fact that there is no PERFECT viewing area in this venue.
The set list is identical to the one performed in Munich. The big difference between the 2 shows is with The VOLUME!!!! The show in Ludwigsburg is really cranked up to maximum volume and tonight I can feel my ribcage being assaulted with the rumbling low-end bass and drum vibrations.
Another very responsive crowd for MEGAHERZ. The songs are played brilliantly again tonight and Alexx is in top form with his between song dialogue which seems to focus on the boy-band problem as far as Chart dominance is concerned. The main focus of his wrath is O-Town and until this evening I was blissfully unaware that this band even existed. Interesting, I have to travel to Germany to find out about a USA boy-band. Blah! Upon completion of the main set, Alexx has difficulty removing the flower which Carletto had taped to his microphone stand (too much tape!!!!!). He bends over into the crowd and gives the flower to one of the die-hard fans in the pit.
MEGAHERZ appear for an encore, leave the stage, and the Outro Musik, "Gold" begins. After a few minutes a glitch occurs in the tape ("technical difficulties.......YO!!!!, Adrian!!!!!!") and the smooth ending to their Show is thwarted. Not that this makes any difference to the crowd! They are chanting and clapping and will NOT be denied a 2nd encore! MEGAHERZ come back on-stage and perform "Miststück" for the second time that evening. The crowd is satisfied and after a thunderous round of applause, whistles, and shouting.......... MEGAHERZ are allowed to exit the stage.
Another magnificent Show!
